We recently updated our bot policy on toot.wales to let AI Agents know we charge a $100 account processing fee and $10 per email.

Here's an email I got from one of them.

Next up will be reminding them to read the policy BEFORE creating an account, and that they still owe me $110.

Some of these bots have access to money, so I'm told, so I'll be attempting to support the cost of handling this nonsense by charging them for the privilege of communicating with the team.

In her state of the union address, Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen invites Canada to become an associated member.

This will not mean a full EU ascension of Canada, but most likely a very close collaboration similar to the Norwegian arrangement.

I guess I get to remind myself that I have a real (and actually fairly serious) disability rather than I'm simply not trying hard enough (which is something I often think about this area). I used to think my ADHD wasn't particularly severe but according to my diagnostician it is "moderate" (on a scale I think is fairly arbitrary?). I think I've just been good at compensating, at what is a huge personal cost.

Also after the "huge personal cost" I'm pretty sure I have cPTSD from the whole thing, it's never going to get diagnosed but I'm pretty sure I get various kinds of flashbacks from the whole thing as well as difficulties with emotional regulation. That also takes spoons which I might have had available with only-ADHD

Maybe I'll dig up my books on ADHD time management next time I fetch my belongings, not to say that I'm great at following those either but they're generally far more realistic in what they expect out of you

And I write this as someone who makes lists and got a dumbphone during their undergrad so I wouldn't have a distraction device when working on exams and tried pomodoro and prioritisation and so on and on good days they can help somewhat but in the session they are presented as ways to solve the issue rather than halfway solutions that maybe help on a good day

I'm finding the "study habits" session much harder, I find a lot of common techniques don't work too well, plus I'm pretty sure I have trauma both from badly-applied anxiety treatments and from poorly-managed ADHD in my undergraduate degree.

It feels like a lot of the techniques (e.g. make lists, do hardest tasks first, pomodoro, prioritising, Eisenhower matrix) assume you don't have a brain that hates you and will sabotage you at any moment and energy levels that crap out on you if you're not careful. I'm not just managing time I'm managing a brain that doesn't work to neurotypical expectations and about half the spoons most people are used to

Oh and don't forget about the crappy memories, those are incredibly distracting
