I've always been excited by what we're working on but @tsyesika is absolutely killing it on the e2ee relay right now. @cwebber had already developed the federated relay but it lacked e2ee. thanks to NLnet funding that is being addressed by layering on the Noise protocol. it would be great to have an internet that didn't need relays but so many computers are behind NATs and then of course there's a bajillion phones and tablets out there. the e2ee relay will make OCapN and Goblins practical to use on the internet we have right now!

I honestly doubt this will move the needle on discord much near-term, especially if they're able to do this without interruption for the 90% of users they claim. If Elon's shenanigans aren't able to completely displace furries off xitter, this is most likely just going to be viewed as an annoyance for the vast majority of people.

That said, I think people should still look at backups and contingencies. I don't know what they'll look like, but I have a feeling they'll be needed.

I'm not very good at this stuff, but the logs seem to indicate that this was a deliberate erase, and not hardware failure:

- iBoot logged failure reason 101, normal boot failed and the laptop went into activation lock, then recovery.
- The APFS container has no macOS system (bootcaches.plist gone)
- logs have NVRAM showing recovery-boot-mode and one-time-boot-command were set, there was a programmatically requested recovery boot prior to the wipe.

I don't have any emails from Apple or anything weird going on in my Find My. Still very uncertain about what happened.
