really cannot wait for this to start getting _less_ relevant over time and not more
fail2ban seems to be able to ban about 20 IPs/sec. That's not really gonna do the trick when I'm getting 200 reqs/sec.

yeah i think the only two things worse than fire in an aircraft would be fire in a submarine or a spaceship

That puts it so succinctly. Agreed 100%.
*especially* if you point out that the LLM has hallucinated, and they keep doing it. (which I say, because... it's happened to me repeatedly.)

@lcamtuf @simplenomad This. Use of an LLM says: "This communication is not worth *my* time. I'm sending it to you though, and I expect that you personally will spend your limited time and attention on it."
IMO, the choice to use an LLM for communication is an indicator of disrespect for your audience.

@simplenomad To me, quality is secondary. I want to know if the text I'm reading comes from a human simply because human writing is rate-limited while LLM writing is not.
If you wrote it yourself, I know you cared enough to invest hours of your time into it, so it's probably worth minutes of my time to read and engage. With LLM-generated text, this no longer holds, so it's sort of "deny by default" because there are only so many hours in a day.
I guess it's sort of a fundamental question of whether we see any inherent value in the human condition, or the goal is just to maximize blog posts per hour.

Mastodon had its first assisted commit a few days ago! Welcome to the board, Mastodon.
I think nixpkgs is the project I track where I search through the most commits. I go through 296,500 to find 492 labelled as assisted.
I think rsync is the project with the largest percentage of assisted commits. It was touching 50% back in April. That project seems kind of dead.
The same pattern of mostly assisted activity seems to apply to Deno but on a larger scale.
Mesa had an absolutely glorious day on 7 June where someone went ham on "r600/sfn". All yellow. Every single one of the almost 60 commits labelled as assisted.
PipeWire has the same pattern on 27 April where they seemingly did some security analysis.

In "normal" (non-tiling) mode, it's very easy to use keyboard shortcuts to reposition a window to a half or quarter of the screen.
One feature I'd love: A keyboard shortcut to position a window in the middle 50% of a screen (using all vertical space).
When I manually position windows, I usually do this for my main application, and have other apps partially visible behind it to the left/right for easily tabbing between them. (Tools like Divvy let you do this on macOS.)

If you use #Linux and haven't yet tried #Cosmic desktop, I recommend it!
A windowing bug in the desktop I'd been using pushed me to look for alternatives. Not only did Cosmic not suffer from the same bug, but the default window management shortcuts are quite nice in both tiling and "normal" modes.
Window "stacks" let you create a single window where each tab is a *different application*, which is super handy when your workflow requires looking at X and (Y or Z).
