The slightly wider key pitch is still tripping me up a tiny bit (it's MX, not Choc) and 3 years of getting used to ESC being to the *left* of [`] as opposed to above it is an adjustment, but I'm already back up to 125WPM and should be full speed again soon.

Anyway I was worried about recommending this sight unseen, given my previous "lovable jank" experience with keeb.io but I really needn't have been. I am very, very happy to recommend this. The price is high but you DO get what you pay for.

The sound is also VASTLY superior. This is a keyboard that can hold its own against a heavily modded Keychron or GMK, right out of the box. It is not "a great ergo layout with some nice mechanical features and custom firmware" it is "an *excellent* premium custom mechanical keyboard that comes with exactly the ergo layout I want". And *really* vibrant shine-through keycaps, too.

Also have I mentioned it is quiet? This is the quietest keyboard that I have ever typed on. My spouse is VERY happy.

As a case in point, the Ceptstrum was kinda torn in half but could not be made to fit together, quite obviously because of the thickness of the 3D printed housing would not afford a small enough gap. but the machining on the Sinc LM is more than tight enough that I can put it together into a regular non-split keyboard configuration if I want to momentarily save some desk space or have someone unfamiliar with split keyboards to type at my desk for a while.

The Sinc LM is _worlds_ beyond that. Aluminum housing, creamy switches, robust tolerances. Damn near _silent_. The Ceptstrum was basically only tolerably soft to type on because it was on a desk mat, and when I upgraded to properly shine-through (and thus, "harder") keycaps, it made my fingers hurt within hours. Despite the fact that the switches were "silent linear", it sounded more like a Blue keyboard than a Red one because of all the dead space.

Nevertheless, keebio is a bespoke shop that is obviously working with a pretty small order flow, and very clearly hand-building these things. The board did what I wanted and there's basically no competition, so while I was getting some of the features of a luxury custom mechanical keyboard (VIA programmable, SMD LEDs, hotswap) I was also compromising *hard* on others (no gaskets, plastic body, loose tolerances). My experience with split mechanical keyboards is "expect jank". The cepstrum delivered jank. The keys were audibly rattle-y. One of the spacebars shipped basically un-lubricated from the factory, requiring me to buy some aftermarket Permatex and manually fix it myself, including the switch, the stabilizer, and the housing, which were all grinding against the edges. The tolerances were pretty wide, there were a ton of screws, the construction was plastic, there were obvious 3D printing artifacts.

Okay so my point of comparison is that I have been typing on my Cepstrum, previously the only comparable device that I'm aware of, for the last 3 years. And I have loved it. Arms shoulder width apart, it's saved me from massive amounts of back & shoulder pain, so, very much worth it, but, obviously I wanted an upgrade.

Lenovo turned out to be not the only choice. In fact, the only configuration I managed to find that met my needs was ~$1500 more expensive than a comparable ASUS. So I went with that one. (Thanks to @namuro for suggesting, I haven't looked at ASUS in ages.)

Also looked at Framework, but got scared by the ongoing drama around the company (too lazy to research details). Oh, and their Apple-inspired keyboard is the suck-iest I've seen.

I absolutely endorse this sentiment but I would be remiss if I did not observe that solidarity is, in addition to a general attitude, also a bunch of excruciatingly tedious *work*.

You’ve gotta give up on your own priorities to make someone else’s more important. You’ve gotta figure out WHICH person you are going to do that for. You’ve gotta reach out, they’ve gotta respond, you’ve gotta hammer out a revshare agreement, you have to schedule a biweekly call to sync up on deliverables.
